Who are you guys?
Logan Circle Films is an award-winning production company founded in 2006 by Rob Piper and Stephen Mack in Washington DC. Everyone on our team for this project has great experience and enthusiasm, and we’ve pulled together a formidable crew that will make this a great shoot. Our cast is made up of the hilarious Jason Lott, the talented Kevin Hasser, and the lovely M.C. Wolfe. Stephen wrote the script and will be directing. The producers of the film are Justin Adams and Tricia Homer, and Andrew Sadtler is our director of photography.
So what makes this project special?
We’ve been turning heads with this project since day one. The script elicits strong responses from everyone who reads it. After an exhaustive search, we managed to find the perfect combination of actors to bring this script to life. And we’re working tirelessly in rehearsals and pre-production to make sure we’re at the very top of our game when production begins.
We are shooting the project on film – a rarity in itself these days – and 100T film at that. This slower film stock will give us finer grain, deeper contrast, and more brilliant colors than anything you’re used to seeing from independent film productions. It’s a little more difficult to light properly, but that’s one of the reasons we’re raising the funds we need.
What do you plan to do with the film after it’s finished?
Film distribution is an unpredictable game. We expect to finish the final cut in early autumn, just in time to submit to some of the big festivals for early 2011, and we will continue a festival run throughout the year. The enthusiasm for the project at this early stage tells us that we should be pretty ambitious in the festivals we target. During the festival run we will be looking at our distribution options. We will be particularly looking at possible television distribution, and ultimately we expect to find a permanent home for the film on the internet at some point down the road, whether it be through a pay service like iTunes or a free option like Vimeo.
A short film is by its nature not a money-making scheme. No one will be getting rich off this project. Our ultimate goal is to make a film that displays excellence at every level and to get it in front of as wide an audience as possible.
What kinds of things would my donation pay for?
The budget is too detailed to describe in full, but here are a few examples of budget items your donation could pay for:
A 400-foot roll of Kodak 7212 or 7217 stock is about $150; we’ll need about ten of them. A Fisher-11 dolly is $325 per day. We’ll be spending about $500 on wardrobe and props. Film telecine services will run about $1000. Our grip/lighting truck for the shoot will be $3260 plus mileage. We have to feed our cast and crew at about $10 per head per day. And let’s not forget we want to pay our outstanding cast and crew for the long hours they’ll be putting in.
So why should I donate to this film?
It depends:
Do you love seeing dynamic, intelligent stories on screen? We have a script that has placed in national screenwriting competitions, one that arouses strong responses from everyone who reads it.
Do you love film and art in general? We’ve assembled a team of people who are passionate about film as an art form, and we’re committed to making a project that stands apart from the pack.
Do you want to see DC/Baltimore filmmakers succeed? The extra efforts we’ve been putting into this project will enable all the talented people involved to show what they’re capable of and have their work shown in front of a wide audience. On top of that, we hope to bring great exposure and more prominence to the DC/Baltimore film market as a whole.
Do you want to see your name on screen? All donors will receive at least a Special Thanks credit, while larger donations will be considered for more prominent credits.
Do you want to be a part of the film world? We won’t just take your money and forget about you. We hope to keep an ongoing relationship with our donors throughout the project’s life and beyond. That’s why we encourage people to contact us before donating so we can get to know you and find out what you’d like to see from us. Logan Circle Films has been around for a while now and we’re in it for the long haul. You have the chance be a part of our team as we move forward.
Will my donation be tax-deductible?
The Anniversary is a sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, a non-profit arts service organization. Contributions in behalf of The Anniversary may be made payable to Fractured Atlas and are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.

Logan Circle Films LLC

Donations by check of $1000 or more must be accompanied by a Major Gift Letter. Email us and we will provide you with a simple form letter to fill out and send with your donation.
Can I donate things to the project other than money?
Absolutely! There are all kinds of in-kind (non-cash) donations that could be helpful for the production, such as the lending of props, equipment, catering or craft service, as well as the use of locations for filming, rehearsals, or post-production. While donations of services or other “intangibles” are not tax-deductible, they can be of considerable value to the production. Please email us if you are interested in learning about potential in-kind contributions you can make.
I’d like to learn more before I make a donation. Can I contact you directly?
Of course! Feel free to contact us at info@logancirclefilms.com. We’d be thrilled to discuss the project with you. Don’t be shy!
